Disco 2 replacement- are Range Rovers a good buy for towing?

If you want an affordable 3.5 ton towing capacity try Independent Isuzu in Lincolnshire i think. They rebuild old Troopers and Bighorns putting an uprated old 3.1 engine in place of the troublesome 3 litre.

They are at York and it’s 1600 for conversion

Vs touareg is worth a look as a towing car ,8 speed auto with low range can handle 3.5 ton towing very well

I've heard the Range Rover Sports make better towing vehicles, as they use the Discovery chassis while the base models use a spot welded chassis more like a car. Seems a good excuse to get a RR Sport to me

The chap I rent summer grazing from bought a RR sport as his farm truck not sure how old because its got a private plate but I think about 8 years old. Needed a new engine after 3 weeks work away from the school run. The dealer sorted it for him.

Luckily he bought it from a dealer! Always got to wonder if people knew something before they traded it in in such cases. We have a local garage and a guy there has done quite a few Discoveries and Range Rovers now and doesn't find the body-off thing so daunting now as he knows what he's doing so can just get stuck in. I imagine it puts off a lot of mechanics though.
