Are Japanese cars not having supply issues because they’re less desirable?

New car wise his sales are up 27% which he says is mainly down to the fact that his customers have more money than normal. The various payments the government has made to people is extra money they wouldn't normally have so there is a car upgrade going on. Also he has some customer that change their cars like clockwork at 3 years old. These people are now changing early instead of going away on holidays. It appears people don't like having money sitting around and prefer it utilised.
And no supply issues from his manufacturer at all. He can get pretty much what he wants as per normal.

A lot of loan money was frittered away, particularly by the self employed.
I have an old school friend who is an art dealer and he used a bounce back loan to buy a £42000 Philippe Patel!

Think you mean 'Patek Philippe' ;)

I know one plumber who took every single thing offered but continued to work for cash during the whole coronavirus pandemic. His accounts look normal but my god does he have pile of cash! Loads of people did it and taken advantage of the government scheme. Can you blame them though!

No they won't be bothered but cash can be a problem. Another chap I know is a kitchen fitter and supplier. He's been flat out the last 18 months because like the car job people invested in their houses rather than holidays. He's got £150,000 cash stashed away with the biggest problem being there is some old £20's in it.
He can't pay it into the bank due to the questions it'll generate so he's started buying things but keeping each purchase under the limit where it has to be reported.

Actually, when I bought my Disco Sport 5 years ago, some was paid in cash.
shukers were hopeless, and I had to get them to count it 3 times before they got the right amount. They know me well so were happy to do it, but don’t think they would allow a stranger to do it. They still joke about it when I pop in now!
