As above, appalling as JD dealerships only too keen to take your finance when you buy a tractor etc from them.
The same applies to all machinery manufacturers.
Also dealers make a profit out of supplying replacement units

It is as if JD know they are not going to sell GPS stuff in eastern Europe where it is suspected a lot of it goes , so let it be easily stolen etc in UK western Europe where they will sell the new ones, everyone is on a winner( dealers/ JD/ subscriptions) except the farmer/contractor who has to buy new again. Unfortunately some can be easily stopped if yards more like compounds/ remove from field last thing at night etc, stop being an easy target ourselves.

It’s a bit unfair to say it’s only jd that are guilty of this, plenty of non jd systems have gone missing in this part of the world! I suspect it’s mor a case there is more jd systems about so more chances of one going missing.

Newer models it’s built into the tractor so not so easy to remove.

its abit like all the expensive kit the US left in Afganistan, that the tailban have got hold of? If the apache helicopters had a remotely operated device that could make it so it wouldnt run and start?

The JD versions stick out like a big yellow sore thumb on the cab roof, which doesn’t help!

I don't think people give these Eastern European's enough credit. Do you really think they phone JD tech support to get these things working?
Some of those boys out there will know more about it than JD themselves
I agree with you , and I think the same about members of many developing countries. Some may not have had much school education, but they make do and mend , and teach themselves how many things work that I personally wouldn’t have a clue how to fix or get working.

In the news last week they interviewed someone that had just had loads of kit stolen. That included kit that was built in to a Fendt roof, and they’d just cut it out of the roof panel.

The dealer can log into your screen and watch you go up and down a field but they can’t retrieve stolen Gps equipment.... doesn’t make sense does it

Are these unit’s being stolen as badly worldwide?
Surely the reply insurance companies must be jumping on tractor manufacturers to make these GPS systems detectable or inoperative unless one has a password or something you have to enter into the device to enable it to work.
But as some have said there are some very clever people out their working as thieves!!

don't you have the possibility to set a pin code for the antenna? I think it's available since a year or two. something else they should do is to come up with a latch under the roof that can only be unlocked by entering the pin on the display. Still wouldn't prevent the thieves to cut up the tractor's roof but it wouldn't be so tempting to the amateurs

What are you expecting them to do about it?
I mean I’m no technological expert but I’m pretty sure in the world of telematics… JD link all that rubbish It should be very bloody easy…. Farmer rings police “my GPS has been stolen” … then he rings his JD dealer “can you tell me where my GPS dome is please?”…. JD dealer gives an exact grid reference for where in the world the JD dome is… farmer then rings police and says “here you are lads this is where my JD dome is that got stole a few hours ago”… police go and retrieve and arrest the robbers 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unless the tractor is taken as well the equipment will have no power source so how would you expect it to transmit? You’ll say the could put a battery in it, but the thieves are smart enough they would just take the battery out

Domes are receivers not transmitters
