Dispensing feeds from tonne bags,Raimo Big Bag Fert.Dispenser

Do you have a loader to lift the bag? Weaving Machinery sell something similar and I've heard good things about them. Does the job very well for the job you have in mind. I'm sure you'll be happy. The only problem I see is not being able to put the bag down on the floor once it's fitted for fear of squashing the outlet pipe. The Weaving EasiFlow might be a better alternative if this is necessary.

I have nothing to lift the bag so I was really looking for something that can be fitted on the side. Thank you for the info though.

how did you get it off the lorry:scratchhead:

emptying wise why not just take it out the top:scratchhead:
Its delivered on a pallet, and they have a pallet trolley that drops it were you want it. Its an old dairy farm so we have loads of concrete.
I just wanted an easier way to dispense it and prevent spillage and spoilage. Its covered but not as well as I would like.

Waste of money. As others say, use a bucket and stand on a stool if you’re spilling. I have six one-tonne totes here in the shed, and even my Dad can manage to keep spillage under control.

i guess, could be wrong, that op can't move the bag inside once off the lorry?......so got to empty the bag once delivered before it gets wet and doing a tonne by bucket all at once is daunting so they were thinking,,,,'get a spout to help bag it up'

if so only thing i can think is cut end off 1350l ibc and a 'doorway' to get in and put that 'shelter over the bag?

Could you borrow a pallet truck to move it around farm if it came on a pallet and loads of concrete .

Could you pallet fork it into a building then hoist it up off the ground inside using a block and tackle secured to a rafter close to a column? These can be picked up quite economically. Then gravity can be your friend and you could use on of these big bag dispensers?

Perhaps I am not explaining my self well.
I have no equipment to lift the bag, and where it is stored is the most convenient place under cover on the yard. I can bucket the feed out of the tonne bag, that's what I am doing now, but it every time some of it falls on the floor, its a tall bag. The sheds are old cattle sheds so do not have headroom so lifting it off the floor is not an option either.
So I was looking for advice on use of the hopper so I can seal the top of the bag, so its less likely to attract vermin.
My last yard cat died the week before Christmas and trying to get replacements has not been easy. So if anyone has outdoor cats for rehoming, Cambs/Suffolk border I am looking for new staff, to replace George, who kept the rat population in check. I am prepared to pay a transfer fee.

I understood, but really can’t see what the problem is. Get a stepladder/ step stool to help with access to the top, sweep up any spills (which shouldn’t happen anyway, with the step) and keep the bag closed over when not in use. A funnel in the side will either not run or will leak, and the bags will be ruined for re-use too.

Sorry I can’t help with the cat either - I use poison and traps for any rodents, but find maintaining cleanliness minimises the need for that too.

Contact your local Cat Protection League, they are often looking for homes for cats. Anything from household curtain scratchers to wild as all heck ferals. They usually come with vaccinations and neutered. Nominal fee usually applies but you know they won't have feline aids or worms.

Another radical idea but what about buying feed in 25kg bags instead? Assuming you are only buying a tonne or so each year then it should only cost £30-40 extra to have it supplied in small bags. By the time you factor in the cost of some device and your time are you saving anything by having a bulk bag in the first place?
