Hello, my name is Matthew Kidd and I am a final year student at Harper Adams University currently studying BSc (Hons) Agricultural Engineering.

This is my first post on The Farming Forum, although i have been a member for a few years and i do find it interesting to regularly browse through.

I would like to ask for your help in participating in the attached questionnaire for my final year dissertation which aims to establish whether UK farmers would welcome a MOT style compulsory test of agricultural trailers and trailed appliances.

The aim of this questionnaire is to determine the current attitudes and practices of farmers towards the testing of agricultural trailers and trailed appliances.

This survey should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete and your participation is appreciated.
The information gathered will be used solely for research and individual responses will be kept anonymous and confidential.
Any questions or queries about this questionnaire or study please email [email protected]

Any relevant responses are appreciated and i thank you for your time reading this.
The link for the survey is below

Thanks, Matt

Done. Refreshingly well written for an undergraduate questionnaire, with opportunities for adding text replies. Good luck with it.

Good subject too, given recent events involving ag trailers.

I don't suppose you normally live in Wiltshire @matt212 ?

Trying to fill it in on Safari on IPhone, the first page I get a message saying ‘Please don’t select more than one response per column’. I’ll try at home on the PC later.

Trailer testing agricultural & up to 3.5 ton behind your 4 x 4 is Not required by law, I’m an agricultural dealer & we also mot class 4 vehicles.
Trailers should be tested, cattle trailers and trailers behind 4 x 4s etc but the main reason given by vosa is that there is no data base for the trailers so they can’t be tracked or tested. .
In Europe trailers have their own registration plate , quite simple really.

Of course there is, every single HGV trailer on the road os tested and none of them have a reg plate.
They’re all allocated a 17 digit vin and a C number, and every trailer can be tracked bu this number, you can even see the annual test history on the web. Nothing to stop smaller trailer joining onto this database.
