My name is Millie Harding, I am a 3rd year Geography BSc undergraduate at Durham University and I am doing my dissertation on 'Issues and access to land management techniques on farms in England and Scotland: a participatory-led modelling project'.

The abstract is:
This study seeks to understand how changes in environmental land management techniques are affected by the choice that farmers make. A questionnaire and interviews are used to develop realistic agri-environment schemes for choice modelling. Interviews are used to understand how practices of farmers are affected by social relations both on and off farm. Choice modelling is used to understand how economic factors have an impact on choices and how altruism/love of the land affect choice making. A Latent Class Multinomial Logit model is used to understand decision-making by the participants within the choice model. These two threads are combined to provide a greater understanding of how and why farmers change their land management techniques, what will make PES schemes more attractive to farmers in the UK, and how to make the schemes workable in practice with the advent of the new ELMs.

This has involved making a survey to understand how these choices differ when presented with several different options and I am looking for farmers to fill out my questionnaire at this link: https://forms.gle/7ZBAS6L2aeYqe3H16

All information is anonymous and I will provide a report to those who take part in this survey about the findings from this data if individuals wish. If you would like a copy of the report please email me or message me on here so I can make sure I am able to get a copy to you and this will likely be in June-July 2021.
Anyone can take this survey as it is mainly about understanding what factors affect land management decisions on farm across the UK. It is also not geographically restricted as long as the individual resides/farms within the UK. My title says England and Scotland as the previous section of my dissertation has focussed on those particular areas but this is not a requirement by any means. If you wish to ask any questions or more information about this project my contact details are [email protected] and my dissertation supervisor is Dr Sim Reaney ([email protected]).

Thank you for your time,

Millie Harding

Basically I want to understand what factors make farmers change their style of land management and I have made a survey which uses a few different scenarios to do this
