I’m about to buy a bag of cattle feed and one option is a 18% pellet with urea in it or the other option is a 18% nut with no urea
What do people think would be best for 11 weak old calves
They are too young and with poorly developed rumens to utilise urea.
I would avoid urea until they are at least eight months old.
And from an economic viewpoint, the price of urea is far too high compared to the prices of barley and (for eg) soya. The soya not only provides good quality and very safe and palatable protein, it also has a higher ME than the barley it replaces.
