Heard a comment from a bloke on the BBC Farming programme recently, went something like this.

"SFP is now handed out to landowners simply for the privilage of owning the land". Not many would have heard it I suspect.

If a company outside farming came under financial pressure due to unforeseen events, say a hurricane blew the roof off his factory would you not expect him to receive financial help, or would you prefer if he shut down and turned his workforce on the street, the guy has no food to feed his animals due to the unforeseen dreadfull weather last year
well the banks got baled out by the tax payer, summit else that makes me laugh folks saying we should have let them go to the wall:wideyed:there's nowt as blind as those that refuse to see.

I would expect him to have insurance, if he didnt then his workforce would be laid off, as happens.

I don't think businesses that get flooded out get financial help from government just insurance if they have it.

Would you have insurance for shite Silage
No, and i empathise with anyone who made shite silage but many businesses suffered terribly during the wet summer ,seaside hotels, outdoor events, shows to name a few that didn't get any support.I remember seeing stall holders packing up time and time again as country events were cancelled which they relied on for all their income.
