Do nothing farming...where next?

It is obvious that if you don't carry out any kind of management the species for the first few years will be hideous.

Interesting experiment though, I am currently seeding a bit of waste land with a bit of lawn mix but with the intention of letting it go feral in a year or two. Hoping that poppies and the like will take up residence there.

@martian - so have you mown that at all? I'm getting similar results in the third year of having 4m margins round the edge of my fields which can only be mown on the inner half. Do you ever weed out problem species - e.g. docks?
Didn't mow it at all last year, planning on mowing it in next couple of weeks and will clear the hay off. Bit tight to get baler in there, so will likely get the children on it. One or two docks, but they don't seem to be a problem
