How much does a check up cost?
Two check-ups and a quick whizz round with the grinder for me was £19.50 yesterday (y)
I didn't go for 15 years, but when I was pregnant I decided to bite the bullet. I rang an NHS number and got my name on a list. Got a dentist in the local town within a month. All the kids got registered as they were born and when Eulb had a dodgy tooth last year, they took him on straight away. We just pay as we go, but I didn't call yesterday bad at all :) I think we have to set an example to the kids.

Forget floss. These are what you need.

Far simpler and less messy. Can use the same one for 3 days or so.
Got mine from my dentist but can buy them anywhere.
My dentist gave me some of them. How the hell he thought I was ever going to get them between my teeth I will never know.
OK for cleaning the welding gas nozzles though

If you persist in biting bullets you will be visiting the dentist more frequently

Water pick is the way to go . Just fill the reservoir with water add a small amount of cooking salt and away ya go . You can get mains electric ones , cordless rechargable ones or manual . I think most fellas' hands are too big for flossing anyway . I spent a long time "on the road " in my mis spent younger days , to the detriment of my teeth . afterwards when I was settled I spent £5,000 and a 12 month dental marathon to get them sorted , BUT I've never had a minutes trouble with them since , and I put that down to regular electric brushing and a good squirting afterwards . worked for me , and all that was over 20 years ago .

So you'd recommend one like the link I posted earlier in the thread?

I used thing like a small pitchfork with the floss stretched between the prongs with head bent at right angles to shaft. Much easier to use than just floss. Replaceable heads for when it wears out and an electric toothbrush.

I didn't go to the dentist for 10 years or ever flossed and they had got into a right old state but didn't actually need a filling but the new dentist gave me a right rollicking and said if I didn't get boss of the job I'd lose teeth to gum disease. Haven't needed a filling since, but I hadn't needed one before either, so don't know if it helps in that front. Don't get a build up of tartar or calculus now though.

I suppose it's all about pride in your appearance and that kind of stuff generally. it's too easy to get engrossed in the daily grind of the farm and yourself,my our garden and your leisure pursuits go......which is a bad thing.

Well, I've never used one like that , the one I use is a another make , a "KITTY" that came with an electric tooth brush as a "kit" and was recommended by the dentist , and as I said that was 20/30 years back , and it's still in daily use , I only changed the toothbrush body a few weeks back , but of course , I've changed the heads often . They mostly come with different coloured bands round the heads for different family members . All that said , I see no reason why the one you link to wouldn't be equally good . Might even be better with more up-to-date manufacture . JFDI , I'm confident you won't be sorry .

Glide dental floss things I use are great.
I don`t have the prettiest array of teeth and flossing with "string" sets my teeth on edge but the Glide gizmo`s are great. Give it a go once a month and only go to the dentist once a year in January, normally spend more time making the appointment & paying than in the chair!
