do you need a hand on the farm or fruit picking in the Essex area?

Hi everyone,

There are some who already know that I am a metal detectorist and I am trying to gain my first farm permission (incredibly hard) for when the lock down ends and the country is safe, I know it seems like a sad hobby to some but I truly love it! This is my way of trying to earn my first farm permission by helping a farmer in a time of need.

I thought it would be a way to earn trust in the farming community to offer my services for free, that's right free! on the weekend during convid19 crisis as a way of.
I am strong, honest and hard working and not afraid of dirt (good with a shovel ha ha) and I can help on the farm or even pick fruit for you in this time of need.
fruit picking or manual labour + I have a brain.

I can provide I.D and work reference from my current employment at Aalco Essex and also a member of Braintree metal detecting club no: 214, this is a genuine offer and all i ask in return is permission to detect the farm when the harvest allows as I respect your lively hood and your land. Michael Lee Gerstmann (added picture of me enjoying my hobby and some finds)

wow I can not even offer free work in Essex? After 60 letter's, 350 emails, asking friends and family and door knocking on the doors of local farms which I don't drive so is an all day affair, I have spent countless hours online during lockdown trying to find ways to connect and earn trust, I have offered finders service, litter picking but I finally give up on finding a farm permission! I love and I mean truly love metal detecting but the only chance I get is once a month with a club racing against 20 other people or a farmer wanting £650 and 50/50 like there is a gold hoard in every field or I am Indiana Jones seeking the lost Ark, I am a 35 year old dad of four who works fulltime and gets one day a week to do something I love. My daughter Isabelle also used to love detect but sadly she has given up as I can not find local permissions to take her for the last 5 months. I will be honest and say the best thing I have found is a 1/4 gold Celtic tree boat stater coin 50bc on a group dig that I paid the happy farmer half value so I could keep but as a last as it is not about the money I would give it to a farmer who appreciates the history like me just to have a farm permission to enjoy on the weekends when the government allows. I will continue with the Braintree metal detecting club digs I can make it to but apart from my blood I have nothing more to offer for my own permission. Thank you for the replies and tips I did get from previous posts. Michael.
