Dock Survival !

I think the EU wanted it reregistered and to do that would require animal feeding studies so no one bothered. You can still use it on cereals and turf or grass for seed I believe. Its very good on chickweed and cleavers and enhances the activity of other products in a mix.

Foundation in combination with cimarron is a mixture I used a lot. Docks don't like dicamba. Put fluroxypyr in it as well.

Ok. Interesting. What's 2,4D good on? I.e. headland transfer

Transfer is a combined 2,4D and MCPA product. Like polo it probably has reduced loadings of these to suit being put on new leys or cereals. It is a weakened product compared to things like spear and staff which are much more heavily loaded straight versions. Full rate spear is a lot of MCPA going on per hectare compared to the full dose provided by transfer.

Both actives are similar. Good on thistles, buttercup, dandelion etc if caught right but also good on things like fat hen etc. Neither of them really do much on chickweed though.

By tank mixing slightly lower rates of products you are able to do a better weed spectrum or bias a mixture toward a particular problem. For example in the past I remember using cimarron on a field for docks but it also had a population of spear thistles so I used a 3 quarter rate dose of spear as the cimarron partner.

All these hormone herbicides are long established, simple to use and generally quite cheap so you can get a lot of bang for your buck from them. They also have uses in cereals so having them in the chemical store isnt too much of a problem. They also have a lowish impact on the environment due to the time of year they are used and are far less risky to other crops than SUs.

Used to use them in grass and cereals a fair bit as they are cheap and no resistance issues.

Ok the other half's father has sprayed his field of docks, with docstar. Been sprayed a couple of weeks, there is plenty if wilting and curling up but only on the top halfs of them. They are five feet in tall in places. When could they be hit again?

if they were that big they are probably too far gone for it to kill them, If it was me I would leave them a while and then top whats left and respray in the autumn

Read the label the latest stage is the rosette stage when they are the size of a dinner plate, not 5 feet tall! It won't work.

Best to top off and leave a month.

The label on doxstar says maximum 20cm high
Hence i used forefront as it nukes them regardless of size

Yes, its dear, but you dont want to have to go back into a 2 acre horse paddock do you?
Or explain to them why the £16/ac dockstar didnt work
Plus it does ragwort too
Restrictions arent a prob on grazing paddocks
You wouldn't be going into a horse paddock with Forefront though. Maybe a cattle or sheep paddock, but not a horse paddock.

He had spray bought already. From what he has told me the ground is stoney undneath so getting it topped maybe not easy. I told him he may get the strimmer out :ROFLMAO:.
