Dock Survival !

I have spot sprayed this Dock twice over the last 6 weeks, and then had the field spayed with docstar, and its coming back again!!

Dug out a hole for a tank about 5 years ago, within 3 weeks there was a dock growing in the bottom of the hole. The field had been filled up maybe 20 years ago and it survived

What did you spot spray it with? You've probably killed off the leaves but not the root with the spot spraying. Just dig it out, it'll have a tap root like a carrot

It's a shame Cimmaron was withdrawn. It would get the root as well.

I couldn't disagree more. Glyphosate does the roots better than anything else. All herbicides are best applied at the rosette stage when it will be taken down to the roots, not when flowering or seeding.

Glyphosate might kill seedling docks but it won't kill established docks. At best the leaves die before fresh growth appears. I've seen it many times in fields that have been sprayed with glyphosate before being reseeded.

That's due to the weak rate applied with a boom sprayer. When mixed stronger in a knapsack it slowly kills the dock. Asulox is also very good in a knapsack sprayer if you want to keep the surrounding grass (turns it bright yellow mind but recovers)

Ive known docks survive a pass of roundup.

What was the dock sprayed with 6 weeks ago and at what rate?? Its possible the weather wasnt growy enough.

Even cimarron was not fool proof either, such a shame it wasnt reregistered. It was ace.

That's what I use and have had good results. Mix it according to the instructions, don't be tempted to add extra, spray at the rosette stage and wet the leaves but don't let it run off.

What dilution rate do you use for Asulox ?

Dockstar pro will do them but need to be done two consecutive years due to the nature of the plant. Half rate will do it

I meant before ploughing, the rest of the field is yellow but the docks are still green.
I've also seen docks in reseeds that look like seedlings but when you pull them up they're growing from a piece of root

Repeat applications won't be very effective unless you let it green up completely.

After stunting it the first time it won't take it in.
