Docking chute and iron

It’s like anything. We were crutching sheep today, could have got them in with lots of shouting and beeping horns, could have done the job with steel hurdles and one of us holding as the other crutched.

ive made our own clamp, all taken into account its just as good as a combi (but fraction of the cost :sneaky::)) at holding/imoblising a sheep but i still dont like it in respect of actully getting at really dirty backsides as much a headyolk type for standup ...... problem i find is it pushes their hind quaters together too much and on a thin one thatneeds cleaning up lower down beside lower legs ....you cant get in around, and makse catching a gastrocnemius tendon risk still possible even if rare. :(

clamps do stop that side ways movement and annoying going down really well but its a clamp and swing up table i want to to try now ,like prattly or tepari one. getting older doesnt help and our lower numbers and being spread out not ring fence.dont really make enough for contractors in one go and i like wielding a handpiece anyway .

I’m tempted to go down the chute and iron route. Normally ring and tag at 24hrs old but sick of joint I’ll. indoor and outdoor lambing.
What’s the craic with the nuts if left to 4 weeks old? I do t really like leaving them on multiples

Ref nuts, burdizzo is legal without anaesthetic until three months. There is a new biodegradable clamp being trialled, name of which I forget, which is also legal to three months. I think rubber rings are legal with local anaesthetic after seven days old, would have to check that.

😘

I did actually take a great little video which shows exactly why I don’t like wool 😂

I got you round in the end didn’t I 😂
Think all of that work and kit required, shows why you don’t like wool. The shedders be grazing and feeding the lambs whilst you’ve got the Romneys penned up, sweating.

how yer finding it so far ??
is it just me or is the clip missing out of front pivot

put a few of them in yer spare parts box along with some hose hose clamps spare gun and main spring
thats the only things we have broken or lost on the one here
It’s just the angle of the photo I think.

But good idea about some spares !

Very good so far, would say better than the Te Pari.

Done a few small groups to test it out, got 1500 to do today, and I think another 1200 to do tomorrow and same Tuesday.

Having a good three man team is essential.

don't know if they have done any thing but at Botton of chute one here sits off set when carting around (sits on the tripping set up on bottom and also were the hose goes into the sprayer) needs a wee leg there as after a while it rubs and cuts hose were it attach to the pipe going up sprayer nozzle

other thing and I would have to look at one here the support stand I think the square is upside down bigger square on bottom part if that makes sence gets over spray down it would be better other way big square at top and smaller. square slides up in to it

using clikzen here 2 resons
1 applying a bit more so better coverage
2 withholding shorter so can sell them if need be due to dry etc

we jet just after weaning so dont need as longer protection

A bit off topic but when i was looking up theese lamb handlers came across this video. Dont know what the name of the main sheep yard is but it looks alot better of a design than the prattley/rappa to me.
