Docks Again

Naive question I know but is there a good way of controlling docks and rushes with a combination on 4 year plus ley

You can try.

Top the field now and bring the rushes down low.

When they have grown back up green and 12 inches high and growing like fury, spray them with a stiff dose of MCPA and 2,4D in tankmix. They will go yellow, stop growing and die.

This will not work on sedges, mind.

If the docks are happy looking at the time of application I would probably put in 1L of generic fluroxpyr which will curl some up but you may need a repeat dose later in the year.

We've had a good go this week and done the worst 50ac with 2l/ha Hurler. The trouble is that with a mild winter some are still tiny wile other are too far gone and running to seed already.

The worst 20ac of all I will leave until after first cut in a couple of weeks and spray the regrowth.

Yes, mixing those together will give you an all in one product that will attack docks, thistles and nettles- basically pastor. Can get pricey though.
Cheaper than Pastor (I guess it depends on quantity purchased) I can't afford to keep a large stock for my clients so only buy 10-20 acres worth as and when needed

Yes, certainly used to be cheaper and in handier cans. For your situation, using a combined product makes a lot more sense because the second you spray with just one product and weed X survives the customer is on the phone moaning...
