Does anyone spread lime and/or powdered frertilisers through a standard rear discharge muckspreader?

It's been a long time since someone suggested using a Vicon wagtail, with a small child inside holding a shovel waggling it back and forth to stop lime bridging....

I'm pretty sure you used to get an adapter to stop bridging. Spreading slag with the Vicon was so much fun

We spread lime x through a spin deck agri hire machine. Works well, you need about 200hp and level ground if you don't want to apply too much.

Wondering whether it's accurate enough to be able to do this,thinking about sreading Fibrephos/Kalphos though our standard verticle beater muckspreader.

Would rear doors (pictured below) be appropriate?

No problems so far, and very pleased with it.

Not had an opportunity to test their backup yet.

Will be trying it on some biosolids soon

I spread nitram with a Richard Western once. It wasn't very accurate but the spuds in that 20 yards were the size of rugby balls.

If your spreading dung could you not just throw a few ton of lime on floor each load . Small rubble bucket one at front one at back and fill with dung kinda thing

Anyone know why gypsum / plasterboard is not allowed to be taken to the household waste sites ? I have been out of the landfill caper a while now but spotted a sign yesterday when i went scrounge some angle iron of the scrap man

Because when gypsum is disposed of alongside biodegradable wastes it can lead to the production of odorous and toxic hydrogen sulphide gas. We get gypsum from a company who basically recycles it in to nugget form and we then have it for the fields that require it

I wouldn't even try pissing about with a muck spreader. It's not going to put it on anything like consistently or accurately.

Just pay a contractor who has the kit and knowledge to spread it accurately, job done.
