Dog Gate

We are having a few problems with a gate being left open next to a stile on one of our footpaths. Mainly I guess as the previous tenant was happy for it to stay open but we want it kept closed. We have chained it up but don't wish to antagonise the local dog walkers and, assuming the reason for people using the gate is they don't want to lift muddy dogs over the stile, we thought of putting a dog gate / hatch next to the stile.

Has anyone done this and do you have any photos or design suggestions? I don't want to spend a fortune doing it and it needs to be something that can't be left open for lambs to get through.

I saw something similar to the above when walking a NT farm (covered in footpaths between 3 towns:eek:) once. It'd be fairly simple to knock up something similar using timber I'd have thought, and near impossible to leave open.

Also pages 100-104 of this for design plans:

Perfect @neilo thanks! I'd never have found those designs on my own without losing the will to live (y)(y)
