Doing it here instead

Hi all . I want to do my intro here as it will be quicker and do not want to waste any body’s time as I hope to kill two birds with 1 stone as in introducing my self and ask a question at the same time .. but first things first . Hope you all had a good holiday and all the best for the new year.

Ok I am not going to lie nor waste to much of your time....I have googled mushroom farming and voila here Iam I go by the name russ I ain’t got no idea about farming.... I am in the drainage & pest control industry......anyways my daughter introduced me to an app called ‘Pinterest’ over the Xmas period....while browsing the app some I came across something about mushrooms and stuff called mycilleum.... I have been kind of obsessed with the stuff ever since ....I now decided that I can make use of this . So now I’m gonna get to the point ......I want mycelium the more the better ....... if I have to grow it myself I will...... but I’d rather reach out here on the off chance I maybe able to hook up with somebody that may have away of getting plenty of this and is prepared to sell it or maybe just maybe,, wants to grow it for me??obviously and unfortunately at my expense . PayPal/bank transfer are a wonderful thing for receiving payments quick ....
I don’t care about the mushroom (hated them from a kid) this mycillium stuff though is just my taste..... ok so now for the apologies...... I’m sorry for being rude and banging this here for my first post .. not ideal but like I said I don’t want to waste nobody’s time .. I will check back to see any replieies for the next few days , after that I doubt I would visit here again as I have no idea about farming and @42 have no desire to learn . Sure you are a fantastic group and looks like you have a very neat loyal community here Hope you can appreciate what I am trying to say here and I don’t mean to sound like a er .. I just want help with mycelium and will pay for any tools your time and even the correct environment/premises to get what I need .
Sorry for my spelling and punctuation and again all the best for the new year guys/gals
Cheers
Russ

We have a couple of lads started growing oyster mushrooms next door to us. They are using a building that was a cannabis farm for a number of years until it got raided, when I showed it to them they wet themselves with excitement as it was fully kitted out just as they would want it and has saved them a fortune :)
Ask them fellas next door if they want to sell the mycilleum part to me not sure about contamination from the cannabis though . How long they been there ?

I think the problem is is that no one really knows what you mean when you are talking about mycelium, so if you could give a more indepth description of what you are after and what mycelium is you may get some more accurate answers to help you find/source what you are looking for.

Mycelium isn't a specific thing, its a general thing. Every fungus has a mycelium. It means the fungal body, the network of small finger-like growths that form the whole fungus, usually underground. When you rip a piece of bark off a dead tree and see a whole load of white worm like entrails, thats the mycelium of whatever fungus is growing on the dead tree.

Saying 'I want Mycelium' is like saying 'I want legs'

If some person takes a mound of wood chippings as a substrate to grow say oyster mushroom once the mushroom starts to resemble a mushroom I basically want the leftover wood chippings .. and am prepared to pay . You can keep the mushroom if you like I am only interested in the wood chip that by the time the mushroom have sprouted will be littered with mycelium. It would be great to have a reliable supply of say 8ft x 4ft blocks of woochip mycelium

Cheers

But we’re all interested to know what you plan on using it for?

Have you looked at any mushroom compost producers? The only ones I know of are Tunnel Tech. I had a tour around their facilities a few years ago. Not much of a website! http://www.tunneltech.co.uk/
