Domestic wind turbines

Now theres no FITs do small scale turbines stack up now?

Got a 4kw solar on the house which works well bar this time of year when it hasn't done 1.5kwh today but the wind has been blowing well and got me thinking a 5kw turbine would do well!
Isn't very often we dont have sun or wind?

Would there be such a thing as a second hand turbine out there?

We have a wind turbine on our electric gate, wish I hadn't bothered. 1.5kw
It'll do about 2/3 years, then it needs to come down for repair.
Have to send it back, then try and get back up there to refit it.

Now I've added extra solar panels and bigger batteries, it makes it through the winter fine.

building mounted can cause problems, i don't know if you remember quite a few years ago B & Q sold them but they were causing all sorts of cracks. You could look at permitted development, the SD 6kW falls under that on the 9m tower but there are all sorts of rules you need to comply with, distance to neighbors, historical buildings etc. What is the structure your thinking of bolting one too? if its a brick house i would say its too risky, if its a steel framed shed or similar then you could go for a micro turbine, 1kW Airforce 1 or something like that, you should get a couple hundred watts from that.
