2. A BIG portion of Wallonians want out. Don’t confuse that fact with the vote, which is heavily polluted with the English who have moved over the border, as seemingly they in turn want out of England.
That will be the same ones that buy 40ac of swamp, a holiday let and a few solar panels then call themselves a farmer

Wallonians are the French political class which dominate Belgian Brussels politics.

English expats are not Wallonian. The English certainly do not dominate Brussels. Probably the biggest group of people other than native Belgians are Morrocans.

It's not a room, it's a whole country for an argument
Erm....Just remind me, which country are you in?

And which side, if any, did you vote for?

Sorry, just trying to lighten things up on yet another Brexit thread that has inevitably become a mud slinging match.

But, in this country, we do live in a democracy I suppose.
Ah, just remind me which side won?

There’s your problem. It was 15-14 on penalties after extra time. Hardly a clear win.

No, it’s not my problem. I support the winning team.

The only problem I have is getting home without being savaged by the losers!

Some people are such bad losers, aren’t they?

Actually, in my lifetime, the biggest political interest I ever had was the election with the two David’s. All through the campaign it looked pretty promising. When the results came they lost. End of. A CLEAR loss. The significant word is “clear ‘.

In fact referenda are the only way, in a democracy, to get a definite and clear answer to any question and learn what a majority want. The alternatives are either a minority getting what they want or the majority not getting what they want.

The problem you have is if you go by your definition then there are a LOT of MP's seats which are very marginal.

Anyway ..... BRINO seems to be the political fudge of our time, which appears to be coming together rather nicely if belatedly, in Teresa’s kitchen.

A most redoubtable woman don’t you think, .... for a remainer do I hear some of you say?

Think of it for a moment. Just a year ago, she coughed and spluttered her way through her Tory Party Conference speech, whilst the set around her fell to the floor. (As an aside, her performance reminded me of the performance of your average Hillman Avenger, back in the day, or indeed most other British cars of the time... you do remember, don’t you, before Maggie had enough and invited the Japanese to get it sorted)

Anyway, a year after her Hillman Avenger display, she has dressed Brexit up in a whole plethora of “sweetening” coatings to make it a BRINO, so much more palatable to real economy and indeed those interfering Japanese who fixed the Hillman Avenger.

Members of TFF, be upstanding for , PM TM architect of the BRINO flavoured Brexit.

No it wouldn’t of been clear enough. Hence why it would be best not to hold a referendum.
Maybe you like a divided country?

Daft question. The 'division' was there anyway, we agree on that, better to resolve it and move on. Odd that your 'solution' i.e. 'Best not to hold a referendum...' would have maintained the status quo you were so fond of...

I have just found an updated BBC report regarding the 'Independence March' in Edinburgh yesterday. in post #133 I mentioned that the organiser claimed and the BBC put out that there were 100,000 in attendance, a figure still well under 2% of Scots. Edinburgh City Council have stated that about 20,000 people were there, that brings down the percentage of the population marching to well under 0.4%, even assuming they were all Scottish, which they weren't.

If we delve into actual facts - unusual, inconvenient and disconcerting for some, I know - and take a squint at electoral figures, we see that the SNP got 36.9% of the Scottish vote in the 2017 General Election and that Plaid Cymru got 10.4% here in Wales. In Northern Ireland Sinn Fein got 29.4%. It is a fair assumption that all 'Unionist' voters would support remining in the UK, and that some who voted for other parties would too. (y)

This does all tend to put the kibosh on claims made by some idiots / sh*t stirrers that there is a massive call for the break-up of the UK. :)

Unfortunately for you Brexiteers, UK is a constitutional democracy which means the rights of the minority still have to be respected, as much as they may wish for it to be dictatorship.
