Was told by someone the other day that the best way to halter break cattle is to tie them to a donkey, simply tie up and leave the donkey to it and it will follow it around. I’ve YouTubed it and there’s plenty of videos, I thought it sounded like rubbish!! Has anyone tried it?

I got a donkey for that very reason. Kids have him spoilt. He just stands there if i tie a beast to him. So it serves a purpose for a bull or heifer that walks too quickly.
Works for some but like @Whitepeak said - Im still the donkey round here.

Use the tractor and modified gate to exercise more than one at a time. Hard to beat the one on one for building trust though.

A friend has a rig made up on his telehandler, could be an old greys buckrake with no tines on it as it’s got a big back plate to it similar looking and then 4 cows can be lead on it 👍🏻
My great uncle used a Ferguson 135 with a similar arrangement on the back for limousin bulls. Old buckrake headstock with 3 tie points on it. Grandad always reckoned that they were waiting for the day the 3 bulls worked out they could boss a fergy without much effort!

The breeder I often buy Simmental bulls from uses one. Quite something to watch it in 'action', if that's the right word.

Certainly the bulls I've had from him have always been easy to handle.
