Don't be too honest

I generally regard myself as being honest with almost everything especially in my dealings with the law makers and law checkers.

This may well end though;

Above is a picture of the 4 cows and their calves that we had to DNA test (at considerable expense and inconvenience) to prove that each calf was related to it's mother.

This is because the intellectual heavyweight in charge of registering calves here (i.e. me) forgot to register them in time due to overwork at calving time and then refused to lie about their birth date on the registration page at CTS. The oldest one was 4 days outside the allowed 28 days, the youngest 1 day.

No passports could be issued and the animals would have to be slaughtered on farm and not for human consumption because of this.

No wriggling was allowed by CTS at all, no allowance for perfect registration of the previous 290 calves allowed, never had a red light from CTS but the only advice was 'Get a DNA test done and we will consider issuing you the passports'

Next time I will fib.

It is 25 yrs since I had any cattle, and I honestly still have a recurring bad dream about a bunch of beasts for which I had neglected to get passports .
There used to be a fair few animals about that were born a good age back then.

I know of several Charollais ram breeders that have almost all their births on the 1st and 2nd of December (society states no animals allowed to be born before 1st December) I know that they are mainly mid November born 🤦🏻‍♂️
Look at the all the scams that are done in the Pedigree job between Sheep and Cattle and it’s very tedious!

I glanced at a thread about cows being withdrawn from pedigree, what was going on there?

Bit surprised that you’ve posted this on here. Thought it was obvious to anyone with cattle. None of us are perfect, unlike those that have power over us.
Those who have “power over us” don’t have problems with bending the truth, or even telling blatant lies, so why should we plebs be bothered about this ?
Just tell the authorities what they expect to be told .

I never tell lies to people on a personal level. If I communicate with (government) agencies it doesn't apply though. They tell lies all day long, only difference is they believe them.
It is proven time and time again honesty will be used against you by faceless bureaucracies.

I do not like it but I sure as fuuck am not going to feel guilty to fight fire with fire.

Edit: I detest subsidies for the same reason. You just keep lying until you get the outcome you want.

Had one couple years ago , forgot to register it and only noticed on TB test when vet said there's one extra beast than registered on their paper , BCMS were spot on , just ordered a DNA kit , vet done the samples and they agreed a match at lab and passport issued , beast was £1100 worth at time so cost of dna compared to alternative was a no brainer!
