Don't blame meat for the climate crisis, say European livestock farmers

just one for all those who seem to hate the Guardian . . .

Which begs the obvious questions: Have the UK's farming representative bodies given their backing to this European Livestock Voice ? Will the UK be getting these billboards and social media campaign #meatthefacts promoting the livestock industry ?

And there, ladies and gentlemen, you have it in a nutshell:

Put a post up slagging off a vegan TV advert and it gets 4,000 views, 119 comments and counting.
And the NFU think that the best response on behalf of their members is to say that the advert is bad for the mental health of farmers - people who, in the eyes of the public, have little to worry about other than what to spend the subsidy money on.

Put a post up showing how the livestock industry can promote itself in a positive manner, and it gets 202 views and 1 reply.

And you wonder why you're going down the pan ?

hardly saying anything that we don't already know is it, apart from not going far enough

yes, but the message isn't for farmers

it is in the Guardian ( who most here claim is anti farmer ), the target audience is the general public, most probably left leaning & environmentally aware . . .

those are the people the message needs to get to

I still feel The Guardian have tried to unfairly undermine the message but good on them for at least showing 'our' side. Especially for printing;
A spokesperson for the European Livestock Voice said:

“It is well known that a section of the European population over consume animal products, but there is no evidence to suggest that reducing production will lead to any decrease in consumption. The consequences of a drastic reduction on consumption of animal products by replacing them with ‘meat substitutes’ or other activities could well be worse than the benefits of meat consumption, without leading to a significant environmental or health improvement.”

The article which was part funded by The Open Philanthropy Project which funds many animal welfare groups, shoe horns in;
"Europeans eat more than twice as much meat as experts recommend. A report last year called for a 40–50% reduction in the size of Europe’s meat and livestock sector to reduce its environmental footprint.

Research published in Nature journal concluded that beef consumption in western countries needs to fall by 90% in order to avoid dangerous climate change. The livestock sector is believed to be responsible for a minimum of 14.5% of global carbon emissions."

This is still very misleading.

I wouldn't know what way the guardian leans, don't read any papers
fully behind getting the message out though

What do you mean "Seem to hate" ?

The Guardian publishes fake news and fake science .. why would anyone take this comic seriously ?

IMHO The Guardian is little more than a extremist outlet attempting to destroy lots of peoples lives by using propaganda.

And yes it can very easily be justified by the fact George Monbiot publishes his articles based on Science White Papers which he failed to verify were correct - at his own admission.
