Dorset spring farm walk to discuss management of youngstock

A spring farm walk in Dorset, run by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), will cover the management of youngstock during the meeting.

The farm walk will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Hampreston Manor Farm, New Cottages, Hampreston, Wimborne, Dorset.

In association with BGS and LIC/Cogent, Josh and Lauren Fincham, and Anne and Guy Trehane, are hosting a spring farm walk at Hampreston Manor Farm.

The Finchams are first-generation share farmers running a crossbred autumn calving herd.

The meeting will cover:

  • The structure of the business;
  • Forage utilisation;
  • Grazing management and herbal leys;
  • Management of youngstock.

The farm tour will start at 11:00a.m followed by a light lunch at 1:00pm.

Lancashire farm walk​


The Lancashire farm walk will take place on Thursday, May 2, from 10:30a.m until 2:30p.m at Fare Farms Ltd, Lower House Farm, Lower Lane, Freckleton, Preston, Lancashire.

In association with BGS and LIC/Cogent, John and Christine Fare are hosting a visit to Lower House Farm.

This meeting will cover:

  • The structure of the business;
  • Pasture management;
  • Herd fertility;
  • Staffing of the unit.

The farm tour will start at 11:00am, followed by a light lunch at 1:00pm.

Booking is free but is required for catering purposes.
