Double Chop Silage

Digestibility wouldn't be too of my list at all, pallatpalati and intake are the most important, so many times I have seen "good" silage that cows just didn't perform on
Palatability obviously is important and cattle will eat loads of stuff they like.
I've seen cattle hoover poor silage that got a sprinkle of molasses. But they dunged the lot into the tank. If you do a dung test its a good view of what's going on. It's also a good guide to your animal wellbeing.
I know its gimmicky but we have had really good results from liquidthrive dose and lactade feed additive. Cattle seem to be alot more settled and sleep alot on it.
I know it should not make any difference if the diet plan is correct.. But for the couple of quid it's worth it..

The Elho Cobra 7710 seems to fit the discretion of some requests on this post for a double chop made for modern Horse Power

I saw this. Robots in disguise??
I wouldn't be a fan of this. Its a glorified silage wagon that needs huge hp.
It wouldn't be bad if you could drop the trailer when full and pick up another one.
That's the 2100. Your man has a 6920deere on his 2100 he says it can tighten her if you want to go up a few splits..

Would that direct cut wholecrop?
The 2100 does its in the video. But it would benefit with a crop roller at the cutting edge. I'd say this cobra does aswell it has a crop roller. Elho claim little or no seed loss so thats a big plus. They seem to tick most of the boxes . The low maintenance and strength of the build is something the guy I was speaking to alluded to. I haven't been able to get over to him yet..

Unlees you want to direct cut I would not bother, Ive done it for many years , direct cutting wet grass is not my cup of tea and those double chops eat power and the intake is slow , , they have their uses for zero grazing i suppose

When I am thinking about this machine I am thinking of the farmer who typically cuts about 80acres twice or three times a year. He wants to do a bit of zero grazing and he is not very mechanically minded. I thinking of doing away with his jf 900 that he pulls his trailer behind. Im thinking of the zero grazer that he is thinking of buying but can't justify it. And I'm thinking of the few old trailers he has that he can't afford to replace. He should really buy a wagon but he isn't convinced and his neighbour gives him a hand to haul in his present system. To be honest he'd probably be better off with a contractor but he likes hardship. I know that what I am thinking is messy but this is typical of what small farmers do. If this elho 2100 is harder to drive but requires far less maintenance then the extra few gallons of diesel are cheap compared to paying to maintain and replace a precision chop.
Different horses different courses
