Not scouring.

Didn't appear dehydrated, but I couldn't make it take any water as it was intent on throwing itself on its side.

It's urine was clear last night (not yellow as I'd expect if dehydrated).

It has white froth around its mouth today, but I don't know if that's been caused by being stretched out on its side for a while.

Just wanted to note that this has been the best description that I can remember of symptoms. I have seen so many threads asking for more information and @Thick Farmer got what he saw and what he had done quickly. Doctors and Vets would really like this much information!

We got:
Breed
Age
Keep
Previous drugs
Symptoms and the timed changes.

Sadly I expect the animal is lost, but this was top nonetheless.

Thanks for the praise, but I fear that you are right in this instance - the only reason I didn't shoot him this afternoon was because there were so many walkers on the coast path and I didn't want to tarnish the image of farmers even more...

Are his limbs rigid? We had a young bullock die last week of tetanus. Fully conscious but could not move any of it's legs and just lay dead flat. The vet had no option but to put it down.

That crossed my mind too. The high temperature fits and wouldn't happen with poisoning or vitamin/mineral deficiency. Were its eyes cloudy at all?

It's possible. I missed @eulb posting that last night.

It's eyes we're a little cloudy it think. It appeared to have impaired vision.

I just hope none of the rest have the same thing... :nailbiting:

Could've been Polio. Impairs their vision and they tend to start going one direction like with Listeriosis. I've had some come back when they're given a three day treatment with Thiamine, Dexamethasone and LP but many don't. Or they do and then go down with it again at a later date. They seem to get it most between 8 - 12 months too. Vitamin A deficiencies can cause seizure like symptoms when they're excited as well but this doesn't sound like that.

Nervous issues are hard to diagnose let alone treat. They're rough going and it's never fun to find an animal down with symptoms of them. Tough luck.

If MCF then the eye goes cloudy from the bottom upwards, really weird. Also will have sores in mouth and possibly around nostrils.
