Quarterly visits are a requirement for all RT assured pigs, as far as I know. Your mate may not be RT assured.
As far as the 'under care of' thing goes, your mate may not need to treat any of his pigs, and if he does he can call the vet out. Ergo, they would be under the vet's care.
Or maybe he just uses the Betamox he has been prescribed to care for his cattle, and doesn't tell anyone (possibly because he doesn't know any better).
No cattle or other animals apart from pigs, I think he is meant to have a visit a year same as for cattle/sheep, all drugs are obtained properly from the vet, nothing underhand
Not that he needs many
Quarterly must be an rt thing

I remember my then vet insisting on having a quarterly visit pre RT and its predecessors, so probably, initially a Pig Veterinary Society thing.

She was interviewed on countryfile, wasn't she? Pretty clear she wasn't up to her job by her own descriptions. Alleged having been threatened by a pig keeper with a firearm, too, but no statement from the police to back it up. Definitely a police matter, that sort of incident. Wouldn't want anyone threatened in such circumstances.

Btw, vets are permitted to call themselves Doctor. Nothing "feminist" about it.

Most prefer not to. A male vet I know pointed out that in medical circles, Mister outranks Doctor, so why change?

Must just be RT for the quarterly visit then. (So RT _is_ more than the legal minimum. Who knew?)
Where does he sell his pigs to, if not RT assured?

Saw an article today saying that David Attenborough is almost vegan, and quoted him as saying that eating free-range/regenerative meat is just a 'middle-class indulgence'. How the hell do you please these people? Produce meat in a sustainable manner, with a negative carbon footprint and you're still wrong. I only hope that the old boy is being manipulated by vegan nutters!

If she's no longer a pig vet, jen presumably she's still a small animals vet.

Where does she think the food comes from to feed all the dogs and cats that she makes a living from? :scratchhead:

Unfortunately I do believe that he is at the stage where he is losing his marbles rather quickly.

Don't know if you're on Twitter, but there is a big thing currently about women using Dr. wherever possible as some sort of feminist thing.

Its been going in since 2018

Crumbs! The PhDs I know are confident enough in themselves not to make a big deal of it. As a mere graduate, I don't use the letters after my name for anything, nowadays.

Twitter must be a nasty place if a woman has to display rank to get herself respected.
I'm glad I haven't met more than one viciously misogynistic male, but there must be thousands of nasty little keyboard warriors out there.

ETA: is the vet in the OP using the Dr honorific because of gaining qualification as a vet, or because of gaining a PhD?

There's a lot of substandard humans in this world. And the apparent anonymity of the internet can often bring out their worst side.

I don't know why the subject of the OP is using Dr tbh.

There is quite often something lacking in those who feel the need to insist upon such titles.

I remember my late uncle, who was a vet in Dubai, being annoyed and slightly embarrassed when they continually addressed him as Dr.

In the early days vets weren’t allowed to call themselves dr, as at the time not as qualified as medical drs. Later on they where allowed, they refused as they where veterinarian surgeons and medical surgeons are titled mr. A few years ago vets voted again on this issue and what swayed the use of dr now, was the ladies no longer having to be called Mrs or miss

I didn't realise that the title was something they would decide on for themselves. In that case I'll kindly remind you all to call me "Your Gracious and Almighty Majesty" at all times. Thank you kindly in advance.

I once recruited a driver who had the title Lord on his licence.
