There are rumours circulating that it was she herself who made the big cock-up on Friday, and for a particularly unworthy reason. Setting aside the reason, if it is demonstrated that she pushed it through (seemingly against the advice of some) is she the sort of person fit to be in charge of the EC? Clearly that's an important question for all those in the EU, and for those dealing with it.

This shouldn't be taken as an anti-EU thread; for what it's worth, we can see this question being asked in serious media from across EU member-states, including the Netherlands, Germany and France, so I think it's a fair one to ask on here.

Nice steady opening ball, quite predictable Danllan - subterfuge not your strongest suite, old fella. :) :). I await the opening batters reply. Given the pondering pace and lack of movement in the air am expecting a well timed cover drive to get the EU side off to a comfortable start in this one day international. Best wishes.

Slight understatement there me thinks. Whilst some bullpoo was written about her, a fair chunk was true and NATO was alarmed at the shambles. It is amazing how she got to where she is.
Submarines and frigates laid up in port, Troops on nato exercise using branches to simulate rifles, low numbers of tanks and helicopters available type of thing ?

 err... I hate to admit it but once, only once...

I was on an exercise and we ran out of ammo and... the RSM hiding his red face and in an allusion to our BFAs*, had us shouting 'Banana!' for each pull of the trigger and 'Buuuunch!' for a burst of fire. 😐

It lightened the mood somewhat, but was farcical. I really, really wish I was making this up... :banghead:

Just had a good look around the European press.
The ADF are the cheerleaders in wanting UvdL to resign. No surprise there then. Most of the EU press is moving on as the issue of article 16 is it shouldn't have been there and it got removed. The main calls for her resignation come unsurprisingly from the British press.

Yes, I think the storm for Ursula has finished, and she survives for another day. Personally I believe the credibility of the EU would be better served if she fell on her sword. Separately I see in NI, that support for the DUP has collapsed over the sea border and protocol. Arlene will come under a lot of pressure. How she could have done with Dublin falling asleep on Ursula’s cock up! Survival in politics is balanced on razor thin margins.
