Oh dear C that is spin. There is nothing comparable between an individual such as Cummings being a dick and a calculated decision by an organisation representing collectively 27 Sovereign countries dealing with the external relations with another Sovereign country, with what was in effect the triggering of an act of War. You are either trying to sweep it under the carpet - and I understand why, or you truly believe what you write, in which case in my opinion you are fail to appreciate the significance of the difference.

As B'oB says the EU attitude was that moment when you realise after a divorce one side has moved on. Those in the UK who recently suggested starting a rejoin campaign had their boat well and truly torpedoed by there friends at the weekend. The English Channel deepened and widened.

Hey ho onwards we go.
@Hindsight you may, in hindsight, see that you have slightly over egged the pudding in that post!
But I read all these europhile posts and think yes only 52% of the British people voted for Brexit and you can blame the UK for that if you like, you can blame a poor remainer argument put forward, but the EU machine also played a part in that outcome. Pre the Brexit vote the message I received from the EU was that the EU doesn’t need to reform in any significant way. But after (maybe not the morning but very soon after) the new message was we need to reform, we will reform. Too late, too slow. The damage has been done to the UK - at that time one of the major EU member states.
Now I personally couldn’t defend many of the actions of UK politicians over the last 4 years, in many ways they quite frankly appalled me.
That was partly because I held the EU in (too) high regard.
Last week that all came crashing down (to me and my friends I spoke at the weekend). The EU doesn’t care about any (smaller) individual member states, the EU only cares about the EU.
Maybe I misjudged the actions of UK politicians over the last few years, I had cut them a bit of slack knowing that part of negotiations was “over stating your needs”, but I had felt that some of what had gone on “just wasn’t British”, (maybe it wasn’t British, but maybe it was just how you deal with the EU?)

Just some thoughts from a disappointed ex-European.

If we had a vote now it would be 55 leave 45 stay or even 60 40
the Eu is just to undemocratic and as was the case in Ireland joining the euro if the first vote does not fit have another one untill it is right

In a proper democracy major referenda should be once a generation not till you get the right vote

Ah couldn’t find this so posted a reply elsewhere. What a load of horlicks this is! Last year UK shellfish was absolutely fine for EU to import and eat. Now suddenly it’s not! I know the game has changed now we are out but I think we should build barriers to some EU food. I certainly hope we are not importing similar live product - if we are we are mad! Perhaps we have to go through a tit for tat until common sense prevails. No more French wine, cheese etc etc. Seem silly but it is bonkers that just because you leave a club your product becomes “off limits”! The world has gone mad and it’s one created by politicians!
Already actioned by me. I ordered some Somerset brie from Sainsbury`s the other day and they wanted to substitute French. I will not publish my response in detail.

Is there something stopping the selling or purchase of products from the rest of the world?.
The idea and the vote for Brexit was to get away from Eu and there rules. Plenty of promises of trade deal were made over the last 4 years.
The changes over time were to happen over the last 12mths. Everybody knew there position as regard sales or purchase up to 31st of Dec. Dont blame eu as they did not decide to leave anything.
It seems childish now to be complaining that we cant play in the club that we just left or that we cant continue with the crowd that we just got rid of.
Whose complaining,? We sell goods all round the world without any problems, many places such as the US where we have no trade deal, I can order bits from the states and they will arrive without any problems, now the question is why the f**k cant the same happen with the EU, could be our fault could be theirs or a bit of both doesnt matter who is at fault it is pathetic,

The Irish eu commissioner only took up post recently, when Ursula told Hogan to leave she told Ireland that they better put up 2 women out of the 3 candidates, and that 1 of them better be the current commissioner ms. Maginnis. That’s how eu democracy works. Voted for indeed!

Two can play silly games, however I thought we were grown ups not at preschool. Still everytime they play like kids will harden the resolve of the UK, If it carries on we will not go skiing in France next year but somewhere out side the EU, might go to the states instead, perhaps our six week stay next year is not a huge amount but if only ten percent of uk skiers did the same it would have an affect.
