drafty roof

not quite farming ,,, but it is a farmhouse ,,,,, i have a unfelted slate roof ,, i cant afford to strip and felt ,,, there is lots of fibre glass layed in loft , but just wondered if i could staple breather paper roofing felt on the underside of the rafters to help with the cold drafts ,,, but was worried about dew points and condenstion etc ,,,,,, any advice and thoughts be gratefull

Better off leaving well alone,make sure the insulation in the ceilings id nice and tight no gaps,

it is got 10 rolls given to me it bout 18 inch thick

Long as the rain or snow can't get in leave until you can do the job proper

Worse thing I ever did having the roof under felted, makes not a jot of difference in winter and upstairs is like an oven in summer I feel the house is damp too now, just does not breathe like it is meant to.

yes the tyvek type breatherable paper

I read somewhere , the only reason we have felt, is to make the roof watertight in few hours when re roofing, once the slates are on, the felt does nothing, apart from impede the ventilation that is needed to stop condensation.

I've heard that too
