Drain Jetters

We have just bought the Homberg advertised on the classifieds here at £7k.
A nice light idiot proof machine which seems to be a lot better than the ex bulk milk tank and a pump version that we used to hire. Jetter on the back, IBC on the loader. Seems ideal for our low cost operation.

problem is with the agricultural versions is the volume of water used. Mine would use an IBC in less than 15 minutes 🤦

This is our setup, generally not near any ditches so have to carry water. 1000L ibc + 250L in the jetters tank will usually last us a morning sorting problems. If we’re doing a lot I’ll fill the sprayer and use it to top the tanks up. Ours is a 3000psi pump though so doesn’t like dirty water!

yes, that is a traditional Jetter rather than the agricultural ones, that use less pressure but much higher volumes. Mine runs at only 40 bar

Yes higher pressure and less volume means we don’t need carry as much water. This works well in our setup as we’re usually not near a water source which means a trip back to the yard.

On.the marsh it's straight out the ditch.
On the hills, I dam the ditch and do it when the ditches are flowing well.
Herringbone system requires my 16 cube tanker but that still needs to be refilled regularly and definitely not a winter job towing that around the fields.

I run a 2500l tank on the front linkage for water if I cannot suck out of the ditch, it’s a handy buffer for when the tanker has to go and refill.

Thank everybody for your interesting comments. We would hopefully have ditches to draw from. But have plenty of bowser capacity. As mentioned the problem would be getting it in the field . Another 17mm last night that’s taken us over 130mm this year so far.
