We're finishing building our grain store here and now concentrating on the yard and drainage.
The area between the stone bunker and the new building gets a lot of water running off which goes down the yard and gets everything wet. I need a solution to remove the water. Our pressure washer is located approx where I have taken photo from so in addition there will be a lot of mud and dirty water. Keen to keep the entrance to the grain store clean and dry. Concrete going down to right of steel columns but rest will be hard standing at present.
I was thinking about buying 3 of 1mx 1m x 8ft (2.44m) Slurry Channel with slatted lids. This would be dug in and laid between the end of the stone bunker and just before the orange cone. The two ends would be solid with 100mm outlet in middle. The dirty water could go into this and water run off into a soakaway no problem (free draining, stony ground here). Then once (or more) times a year get a mini digger to clear out mud from the channel.
Would this work? Only problem is that we will get a lot of farm traffic , frequently have artics picking up wheat, straw, etc. Most quotes I have had say their lids they are only rated for 8.5t Axle Load. I think I'm going to need something stronger.
Any other solutions or ideas?
