Drainage into main rivers

Anyone know where the rules are that regulates work on main rivers by the EA.What are the guildlines on a main river for ensuring river flow ,rules on flooding agriculture land by mismanagement by idb

Don't know exact answers but EA will wiggle out of anything as I understand. IDBs have a clear obligation to drain your land and are normally a bit more understanding. (presumably you pay the IDB rates?)

The EA gave the main river back to the IDB,but the EA still control the canal and lock gates which they are not opening.IDB seem to think we should just accept no drainage and flooding twice already in July.

Not sure but think canals maybe different, navigation rather than drainage?

No navigation is no longer allowed on the canal plus it wouldn't get up it due to silt.Ours is a main river it drains a vast area .
There's usually a set of 'rules' which set the procedures for opening gates at times of flooding ours are statutory i.e. set by act of parliament so that nobody can alter it to benefit themselves.
