Drainage maps

Busy trying to rectify some long standing drainage issues. Bought land 30yr ago, no drainage maps. Clay pipes from the 60s/70s era, assume they were put in under a drainage scheme, thus would've been surveyed, planned and done with grant assistance.

Does anyone know if there would be a copy held on record anywhere? Got none from sellar, surveyors involved closed down years ago.

The place is a nightmare, where we're working just now seems to have 2 schemes from the same era laid one on top/cutting through the other, don't think it could ever have worked properly. One track we found 2 pipes, at the same depth, 4ft apart, running opposite directions. [emoji37]

Any grant aided drainage we did at that time they only needed to see the plans .It was only the last 3 or 4 years before the grants stopped that plans were required we did about 100 acres with no plans I can remember one of the college advisors warcry at that time,,, their no better way of wasting time and money than looking for drains that arent their

Google Earth. Scroll back through the images until you see one in summer or after a wet winter. You'd be surprised how you can see some drainage systems, especially if they had decent gravel backfill.

DEFRA had a bonfire of all their field drainage archives years ago.

Plant some oats on it then don't spread any fertiliser till June and get a drone up in the air and you should then get your drainage map.Alternitaly you could get a hand held positioning thingy which would do the same thing if you walked up the dark green marks
