I thought id got a v bottom standard holder t2 at £50,50 hopefully old good steel
What I've got is a mt2 holder, id say never used, old . And a offer of 15 refund.
Im thinking aloud, send back hope for full refund and not lost in post
Or bid 15 +post 5.50 un in may become a dial holder ?? But i have 2 useless mt2 holders already??
The seller is in the wrong here the images were clear its not what I bid on .
If it's not what you bid for give them one chance to put it right ie: full refund Inc postage else raise a dispute. Take a copy of the original listing asap in case you need it as evidence.

How are people holding centre drills at tailstop end
Just in a chuck in tailstock ?
Ive a nice plain holder ? On a mt2 , that came in a ebay job lot , i think its a old drill bit ,drilled out . But its for a big center drill
,,so have to drill deep to get the shoulder for a live center.

I just use a good quality chuck on an MT arbor. Somewhere I have an ER collet holder on an MT arbor, but the result is rarely any better than with the chuck.

Yeah I have seen them before, they are normally used with drills, mill cutters & the like that have a flat on the shaft for the grub screw to clamp on to.

The shanks of MT drills are soft enough to machine easily, but that looks as if it's made from a MT plain arbour which has a MT rear & a plain 1" DIA front about 2" long. You can buy those quite cheaply sometimes - I got a dozen 3MT for about £2 each some years back which are handy for mounting small cutters, making a mini boring bar etc.
Plain shank drills can also be machined quite easily - I often turn one down from 12 -14mm to 10mm to fit in a cordless drill (y)

Trying to stop a dripping tap last week ( if our last could close tap properly, wouldn't be a problem )
Have a hand twist tool
Wanted to spin a bit quicker ' now if only i could mount that in a cordless '
Turned a bolt into a adapter tool.
I dont want to know what that tool cost to make .
Have to say really enjoyed seeing it from idea to made .
As I've always said the machine gives me great pleasure.
Don't have as much time to mess this time of year as busy with the fishery and hopefully that pays the bills. Hopefully.

a quick change MT holder is kinda old school now, iirc it was more for Mt boring bars than anything which in themselves are rare now.
some people use them for drilling holes but normally not too big of holes, they use them that way because maybe you need to drill deeper than the tailstock spindle would allow or some find it easier to drill a deep hole without winding in and out the tailstock all the time.
but you need to be precise in setting one up if you are using it for drilling, as in center all the time, a dro is a big help here but unless your QC toolpost has a dead locking pin your in dodgy territory as things can move, also your putting a lot of pressure on your tool post and your carriage saddle which wasn't really meant for drilling with.
some would use it for drilling as the power feed can be handy but again the lathe wasnt really made for this process.
if you have your lathe correctly leveled then the tailstock is for drilling be it with a chuck on a MT or a MT drill itself.
