yeah , service kits are about 20 quidish which you can get a cheaper gun for ,crovect pouron gun is 20ml for just over 20. mole care one is a bit more ...

the plastic phillips ones break just behind the nozzle just like their multi vaccinators do, they must use weak or brrittle material

tbh i think drench guns were designed to be used by some sort of alien the makers/designers want there arses kicked.:banghead:

The *Optiline* is only actually the one designed for the operator to use comfortably with much less chance of causing throat damage from doing the the job at the incorrect angle,
hes not quite big enough capicity for fluke drench in ewes tho and could do with a stronger holding bit on the nozzle.

i would pay good money for one,.... so come on drench gun makers, step up please.

Really??

Best gun I’ve used. Far better than MV ones.

Easy to adjust. Does not change dose on its own. Accurate dose rate. Easy to take apart and clean.

I’m happy enough with them.

A Defender for adult sheep - it goes to 20ml, it's easy to control the speed of drenching, and v easy to clean and service.
Bought one at the Sheep Event this year to replace the one that's many years old which broke at the tube connector end.

There's a smaller Symcro one for lambs that I had as a freebie, and a 5ml stainless steel Phillips one for the tibby lambs' anti-coccy drench. Both are very easy to clean and service, too.

I've three die-cast metal Phillips drenchers that are rendered useless by encrustations and corrosion. Won't be buying any more of those.

Must admit Ive never harmed a sheep drenching one and never found the Phillips awkward to use, though a quick google and can see the Opitline makes sense, but at £90 odd quid for a plastic gun?

My Phillips is into its 4 year now, it will go one for a good few years yet.

I've just completed a Zolvix surveillance trial (repeated after last year), so that they could check there's no resistance to it nationally. They pay the vet's time for the FEC, supplied me with 500ml of Zolvix, and pay me £100 for my trouble. However, the main reason that I was willing to take part, was that I could get a free Optiline drench gun to administer the Zolvix. That's another 2 in my collection.(y)

£35 now, they were £90+ when they first came out.

I stripped down 5 Philip metal guns last week that had seized solid from the last few decades and got them all working perfect, amazing what a bit of grease and WD-40 will do.

My gun of choice is the Optiline if the dose is under 8ml. Anything else, I use one of the collection of Symchro freebies I've collected over the years. I have several old Phillips & Henkel ones, sat mouldering and awaiting sorting out, but find the plastic ones far more comfortable to use and no less robust.

@neilo or anyone else. I am looking for some spares, notably the barrel, for a Hoescht metal vaccination gun of some 20 plus years vintage. She`s still running but have had to cannibalise two other to keep going.
I don't like buying a fresh plastic gun each time for vaccinating..
thanks in anticipation.
