they look nice might have to look into them(y)
There 10 plus years old. When the soles are gone I'll send to the shop in London and get them done. But they do take a year to wear in. I could hardly put my foot in them for ages. Bloody thick leather. I paid around £150 then. A lot more now! But the saying is you buy sh!t you buy twice.

I bought a pair of these by Fit For Purpose (got them on Amazon).

I originally got them just for nipping into town, or going to the local pub in... they are slightly military inspired, but go over them with some polish and put on a smart pair of jeans or chinos and they look the part for going to YF dances or anything of the likes. So much so, im wearing them out in Edinburgh tomorrow night (y)

Not even £40 IIRC and they are the comfiest boots iv owned for wearing as good (work boots are more comfy, but I couldn't go on the pull in them ;)).

As I was once told by a foot surgeon, "you spend half your life in bed and the other half on your feet, so spend as much as you can afford on both"

I've got a pair from these for best,
http://www.loake.co.uk/mobile/byrange.html
Redbacks for work and a comfy pocket sprung for the rest!!
Many years ago a military surplus place near here used to get Loake 2nds, and I managed to find a black pair and a brown pair that fitted.
I've looked after them, every few years I'll spend a couple of evenings doing proper military style polish build up on them, and they're as good today as when I got them over a quarter of a century ago!
Admittedly I don't wear them very often, probably down to three or four times a year for each now, so I can't see any reason why they won't do the same again, and possibly see me out.
Not a bad investment on my part as a teenager!

Nah, thin leather, you wear them out once to 'quickly check something' on the yard and they never recover

Had mine 5 years, been worn to yf, miles around London, down the local. Even feeding Calfs and after I play rugby every weekend still like new. I wouldn't call them thin, seem to be doing very well in my opinion. Put the rm leather dressing on them and the odd polish jobs a good un.

I'd go for some rm Williams, they re the most comfortable boots I've ever owned and they last for ever. I've worn mine almost daily since I bought them in oz 19 years ago so they're also by far the cheapest boots I've owned. Admittedly they're a bit beyond the smart stage now and have been re-soled and stitched but they fit like gloves. When they make it to 25 years I'll treat myself to a new pair!

I'm shocked and appalled. You have planned your wardrobe a day (at least) in advance! You're letting the side down.:stop:

Edit, a slight heel is so good for posture too

+1 I had several pairs of Ariats (Mrs NeilO worked in a saddlers at the time) and they completely change your posture. Agree they're not cheap, but look smart and last for many years, in fact I still have a brown pair now, at close to 20 years old. Still too good fro work though.
Used to have to prise me out of them back in the day, and got married in a black pair, not that anyone would have known.

No, sir! they are the only smart boots I have, which aren't kilt brogues or suit shoes.
So they sortof pick themselves for any 'smart' occasion!!

I'm leaving for the train in 15mins, not a Scooby what else I'm wearing! Time to find a clean, least crinkled, shirt...

It's supposed to be getting warmer from today, just a pair of boots will be fine. Sure to get you some attention anyway.:D

Have a good one.(y)

It really is simple, if you want the best pair of dress boots that will give the best value over their lifetime it quite simply has to be RM Williams.
Buy the Craftman Comfort with the rubber sole. The rubber sole will last much longer than a leather sole and you will be less inclined to slip over.
Yes they are expensive but they are excellent value. Everything else is second best.
I run two pairs, one brown and one black and wear them everywhere except for farm work (For which I have Redbacks).
Only time I wear anything other is when its a Black Tie event.
