Dribble Bar Retrofit - Vacuum Tank

Hi Guys,

I'm debating the idea of retrofititng a dribble bar on my slurry vaccum tank. The main reason is that I am in our agri-environmental scheme (GLAS) and one of the requirements that I picked to ensure eligibility was low emission slurry spreading. I like the idea of the dribble bar anyway as it should mean better utilisation of the slurry and the ability to spread more often on grazing ground with a shorter interval to either regraze or cut without staining all of the grass.

I have come across 2 manufactures offering a retrofit solution so far, they being:

1. Mastek http://mastek.ie/products/slurrymate/6-57-5-mtr-universal-tanker-mounted-dribble/

2. Slurry Kat http://www.slurrykat.com/tanker-compax-7-5-12mtr.html

Id love to get feedback from guys that have these systems or similar on their tanks and how they find them. And are there any other manufactures offering this solution for a standard splash plate tank? I'm not interested in the trailing shoe solution as dont handle the volume of slurry to justify its cost over the dribble bar.

The one sore point is the cost. The Mastek costs 11k euro including VAT. Seems very expensive. I am toying with the idea of fabricating my own, but time is my problem. What would the macerator cost on its own? On the plus side a 40% grant is available. But most likely this is what is causing the inflated price in the first place!

All feedback appreciated, or or any other solutions either home made or bought that guys have added to their tanks to satisfy the low emission criteria.

Thanks in advance.

No macerater though,I would expect you would have to pay up to 2K for a macerater..

Not a bad idea, seen NC with a similar idea on youtube
. I dont have any issues with bales or sop in my slurry so I think i would get away without a macerator.

I wonder how even the flow distribution is at the ends of the bars without a macerator though? I assume on the macerator models that macerator helps to pump as well as chop the slurry and that the vaccum pumps main job in them systems is to get the slurry to the macerator? The concept in your picture is very interesting though, I will definitely enquire further into it thanks.

Can you get a macerator that has a straight through output or are they all discharging through many separate outlets like the ones you see on dribble bars and trailing shoe spreaders?

A lot of the manufactures seem to feed the trailing shoes from the top of the tank. I wonder is the reason for this to prevent any stones/debris etc entering the macerator? Must place a bit more stress on the vacuum pump though trying to force the slurry up and oppose gravity. Seems to my mind there is a big opportunity here for someone to design a cost effective idea as I think the days of the splash plate are numbered.
