Dribble Bar vs Trailing Shoe.

If I were to invest into tech for slurry again I would definetly go for trailing shoe.
Spreading Plates are allowed for a transition phase here on grassland till 2025, standing crops not allowed anymore, only allowed on the bare soil if it gets tilled in after 1 hour.
Contractors are cheap enough here so I wont bother.
SInce our Contractor has a trailing shoe i order that for the grassland, no "slurry sausages" anymore had some problems with that when he used a dribble bar. He charges a little more for the trailing shoe but worth it in my opinion. For crops I do not like the trailing shoe because it does not fit our 24m tracks. Prefer Dribble bar there to reduce the passes. My Neighbour always gets a contractor with a disc injector and a self propelled machine.
He swears its the best but the wheat or barley always look a little stressed after application in the spring and its really expensive.
If I dont have help in the spring to use my own tanker before corn I order the Contractor to come with the disc harrow to spread and harrow in one pass.
I like being flexible otherwise you would always have to make some kind of compromise.

But here are different circumstances in germany.

Only grassland ? Get a trailing shoe

I am surprised that @slurryquip actually hasn't commented on this thread. Spoke to him at Fintona show last year and he was very helpful and had a good product line on display but I suppose he is probably up to his eyes at the minute with enquires. But to answer your question, no, I haven't spoken to him recently and yes I think I may have made my mind up what I want, all I will need now will be a bit of grant money and somebody to make it.

so how have you guys that bought trailing shoes got on with them. I'm about to hit go on my grant for one to fit on my tanker (2017 redrock tanker with factory fitted mounting point). Just still not sure what size to go for. over 8m only gets another £800 grant and seems to add either a lot more weight or more complicated folding, or a transport width wider than the tanker, i.e.3m
thanks in advance

Yeah they are a double fold as you can see now higher or wider than the tank

That’s a 9m bar, she can be bouncy when empty but ours will be mounted further away than yours would as that tanker has an over hedge boom on it for the winter time and spring time as it’s put on a self propelled tanker for the spring

Do you think the 300mm spacing with only having 30 points is a bit wide?

What application rate are you looking for ?? Wider will help you reduce rates if you need to (nvz)

Has anyone any experience of a Major Dribble bar? Local dealer can do 7.5m versions at not too bad a cost. Ideally I wanted a 9m but perhaps could put some of the difference into a fill arm retrofit instead.
The major appears to use a vogelsang macerator.
