Dribble bars

How do they compare to the HARDI Quintastreams for scorch and boom height sensitivity?

Well it’s like this. The Quintastream is a very good fert nozzle, in fact probably the best on the market. However the downside is that it is a one size/rate nozzle so if you have multiple rates you want to apply it becomes expensive. This is were the 5Star steps up. Because it is a variable rate fert nozzle you have the range from 60-250 l/ha at 12 kmh. That can obviously be manipulated by changing speed.
Regarding height sensitivity, all applications made by a nozzle are going to be subject to height sensitivity to a degree. This is because you are applying from a single point , at the nozzle and trying to achieve a fan style spread from that point. Therefore coverage may be compromised if too high or too low
Dribble bars are really the best way to alleviate height issues.
Hope this makes some sense
By the way !
We are currently (limited time only) doing the 5star at £10.50 each as opposed to £15.75 RRP

Found out yesterday that BFS auto streamers don t work too well on Batemans as Bateman use a Ramsey box / flow based system and it sort of fights the auto streamers ?

Give bateman a call.....there’s a valve that needs adjusting to smooth out the rate change/flow.....I have no idea what it’s called, but it used to be a red knob in the engine bay, on the near side, just above the air solenoids, on the RB15. Bugger would go absolutely nuts with autostreamers if the valve was set to spray rather than fert.
Will be having a play with the RB35 and autostreamers tomorrow, for the first time having upgraded sprayers, so will no doubt go through the same process as you....will keep you posted....! Doesn’t work on pressure control at all....for obvious reasons.

BFS supply a range of fertiliser bars and nozzles, some variable rate some not. We give advice on which nozzle / bar would best suite your needs. Call stores on 01268 710237
The 5 Star fert caps have been out probably 8 years now and are used widely where people can't use a bar type applicator or have revolving nozzle bodies and don't want to remove them every time they want to go spraying. They are variable rate and go from approx 80 to 250 l/ha depending on speed and pressure. @Billericay Farm services have all the technical info on 01268 710237.
The inner valve is from the autostreamer bar, so the variable rate technology in the 5star has been proven over time and is very durable.

Not at all , flow based system is exactly what they’re designed for. From what I’ve learned that has happened before on a Bateman , but it was due to the Ramsay box having a leak

run auto streamers on 2 rb35s and on 2 rb 25s before that, never had a problem with them. They work on flow based system and not on pressure based system! To get around the issues of the end of the boom and dribble bars we run some nozzle extensions and drop them down under the boom, this works ok !! just makes them a little vulnerable
Yes, for the areas with clearance issues on the boom extension caps are usually the answer. Occasionally you may need to fit a 'remote kit' with a boom clamp. Call 01268 710237 for more information on remote kits.

After a long delay getting the sprayer started due to a collapsed battery, I can confirm that the autostreamers worked fine without any fettling - Unlike the RB15. So would suspect the leaky Ramsay, as mentioned above? Have you had any further joy today?

Actually , I m not trying autostreamers yet as I have Accurate bars but was looking at next sprayer / 12 months time and looking and finding out about alternatives. Also it will depend on what system of V Rate my customer goes for I guess. Time will tell.

Ok

I use Bateman Accurate bars which I like however looking to future I may look at the BFS auto streamers however due to the way the Bateman rb boom folds, I need some (4) shorter bars with a flexi pipe to make it fit. Does BFS do such a thing ? @Bfs
Ie, if a bar has 4 streams per bar (0.5m), then on my Bateman I need a bar with 3 streams and a forth outlet on a pipe to a single outlet and a Lh and a RH version.

Just out of interest do you do the 5 star fert caps in a bigger size, say 150-350 lt/ha as 80-250 l/ha would be a bit small for me?
Thank you

Sorry but no, unfortunately. The only way to achieve that rate is to slow down, then you may get to 350 litres. We are limited in the cap to one of the valves that is in the AutoStreamers [which have 4 ] so the range of rates is tighter. Also need to bear in mind if the pressure rises too much in an attempt to apply higher rates at regular speeds then you may start to atomise the liquid fert as it exits, which could result in higher scorch risk. Dribble Bars and AutoStreamers are the ones to go for really if you need the higher end of the rate chart. @Billericay Farm services
