Drill and Price Comparisons

Having re read the spec, I'd say the SimTec which has a disc ahead of the seeding tine doesn't qualify.

The way I read it, as the disc is integral to the seeding unit as a whole it’s fine. If there is pre cultivation in front of the seeding unit then it won’t qualify?

Copied from the spec: 'must have no cultivation or seed bed preparation equipment in front of the seeding slot mechanism and the seed must be placed in the seeding slot.'

From the above I don't see how a SimTec qualifies unless the front disc is removed?

The leading disc prepares the seedbed by cutting a slot and is mounted to the drill chassis separately.

I'm fairly certain they have qualified on past schemes, because I know of two drills been bought, but I wouldn't call it low disturbance drilling by any means.
Perhaps @tr250 has nailed it...

The leading disc doesn't 'cultivate' as it isn't angled like cult discs are, it cuts a slot ahead of the tine to minimise ground disturbance, particularly in grassland.

When a tine with a point on the bottom becomes a 'cultivator', I'm not quite sure... :censored:

The cynic in me wonders if there is ÂŁ11.5k built in to the retail price.

Inflation don't you know.

ÂŁ32k would put it at about that much dearer than I paid for mine, which was just as the grants were kicking off. The grants will have fuelled demand though, so prices were sure to rise due to that (trying to be charitable)?
