Best drill bits I ever had came with a black and decker drill and the worst by miles are Berdgen as your almost pleased to drill one hole before the drill bit snaps but I bought about 250 of those bits

Ive got an old Black and Decker 1000wt model ,2 gears ,low gear is slow enough to rip your thumb of when it snaggs ,electric drills just arent made like they used to be ,

Slow speed for the stainless with oil to cool and lubricate.
If you have variable, you can sometimes get the sweet spot that the drill bits in, without overheating.

snap on ones that came with extractors are bees knees will drill hard stuff etc only thing the second smallest 1 is as if its sharpened backwards never been sharp from new?

There is such a thing as left handed drill bits and until recently in the past few years snap on were about the only ones making them! I have a left hand snap on set and they drill really well even though they look as rough a hell! I just cant sharpen them as it all back to front!

i use these, might be a few more in it than you want but i find them a good drill, id drill a lot of holes and the first box is still 3/4 full and i must have it 10 yrs, of course a lot have been sharpened over time but i bought another set of them 6 mths ago so i must like them.
i cant remember the price of them, iirc it was €140 or a bit less on sale.
155 drills tho.

actually, here they are on the bay, it might be more than you want to spend so not to worry.

of course their longevity depends a lot on how you treat them, as Eric says, a bit of cutting lube goes a long way.
buy yourself a tin of this stuff, you wont look back.

mine are the right hand set but I have seen the lh set mines just the tip that must be short of lead edge or something ive never bothered playing with it as I keep these as "best" drills for the extractors

I've just bought a set of Bosch HSS-CO off amazon, £42 for half mm increments up to 13mm and that includes VAT ! We shall see how they compare to the HSS-G I already have.

and you should be handy on a drill by now id imagine.
there is no doubt that ive dressed loads of the drills i have in my box but overall i found them to be a good enough drill given some of the tasks they were faced into.
i took a few random ones out of the new box and set them up on the drill grinder to see how close to correct their angles were and altho they were a smidgin out, for a mass produced item they were on the money.
like a lot of things in life, there will be things i like and others wont and vise versa.
i think you know by now that id never knowingly see someone wrong, the experiences id share are from doing the job or using the product.but they are the truth all the same.

when you say hard to get them started drilling, what size drill in what metal did you find the problems on?

I was drilling 8 mm holes in 6 mm thick steel that had been galvanised . Was just real slow to start taking a bite out of the steel regardless of speed or pressure and taking an age to get through the steel . . The bit`s of steel it was drilling out were tiny also not a good sign of a bit . Changed drill bit then to a vres bit i think it was called that came from wholesale welding supplies and it flew through the steel . Had 90 holes to drill the wurth drilled 10 before i gave up and the vres drilled the rest no problem . Not a bad box of bit`s to have to get me out of a hole some day if an odd size was needed but thought they would have been better .
