Drilling and not putting in tramlines but adding autosteer to the sprayer?

I’m going to go against most people on this thread because I like tramlines. I prefer a visual tramline to drive down especially on the headland as it’s measured from the hedge with the drill even with rtk you need to record your way line from more than just eye, I like the satisfaction of seeing them, I think there is less green in them. We put them in with the drill with rtk we are mainly dd now so they can be seen anyway but the drill follows them from previous year and seed would just be wasted

You need accurate gps on the sprayer ideally
Did not have an rtk subscription correction last year on the case sp3000 and on plough sown crops was through then 3 times on auto steer as could not see my previous wheel marks but then had to resort to manually steering
Paced all mine out ,can't afford anything else once you've been through once it's easy after that

crop growing in tramlines has added bonus of holding soil together through wet periods, helps machinery travel better and reduces soil erosion and run off

fixing them in the same position removes need to subsoil or deep cultivate and over the years they travel better and better / don’t rut

absolute no brainier really

I don't drill tramlines, put them in with the sprayer. I only use RTX rangepoint and it works perfectly, I can use the same tramlines every year. You might have to use the nudge button once or twice...
I do drill the headland tramlines though. Having a visual line when turning stops the booms ending in the hedge.

Yes that’s what I like when your on that headland tramline you know your not going to hit the hedge/fence. Plus I love seeing the smartness of tramlines that old light bar is all I have on the sprayer but I still know my tramlines are dead on 28m

well over a decade since we put a tramline in with a drill, fixed tramlines put in with the sprayer

never had a problem at harvest, can’t imagine why you would tramline with a drill if you can with the sprayer

we rarely use pre harvest glyphosate as well
If you have an old SP sprayer with electric wheel steering rtk gps the tramlines on the drill will be straighter due to steering twitch, but I still put them in with the sprayer as it’s a lot quicker and simpler drilling

Never tramlined here but find the waas signal not repeatable with accuracy to follow a previous path. Once I’ve sprayer its freehand after that down the same wheelings. Rarely any green issues. Found more green with tramlines back home as you rarely have tramlines that are bare the width of your tires.

Using the Claydon for osr and beans I never put tramlines in, drill at an angle to previous tramlines anyway.
Tramlines on all fields are in the same place every year near enough what ever cultivation used as saved on the drill tractor.

I drill without putting tramlines in but use a cheap lightbar system (Agricision OnTrak) to set a straight run across the field with the drill if the field has no straight edge. I drill using bout markers and my eyes to keep it straight. The OnTrak isn’t good enough for matching 4m drill bouts. Then I use the OnTrak in the sprayer to set out my tramlines. Looking at the drill rows combined with using the OnTrak lightbar results in very good straight tramlines with no need for an RTK subscription. You notice it does drift though so you need be quick and or drive back down an already marked tramline to reset your AB if you’ve stopped for a cuppa or something. It’s good enough for 24 m bouts but I set it to 23.9 m to avoid misses. Sticks together bonnet with magnetic feet and Bluetooths to your iPhone for set up and various area recording which I don’t use. The blue tooth link can refuse to connect at times which sometimes leaves me ready to smash it with a stone but I haven’t done that yet.
