Last field of linseed then just beetroot to get in

How do you get on growing spring linseed and what sort of yields do you get Mr Charisma?
Nearly grew some this time but not keen on the idea. Never grown it before.

i tend to have a love hate relationship with linseed , with good drilling conditions and a good growing season we have grown 2.9 t / ha and sold at £440 / ton , with low growing costs then it needs a huge crop of wheat to compete in GM

but on the flip side a bad spring season and we have struggled to get 1 t / ha , then you loose the love for linseed , but in those bad growing seasons most things planted in the spring can be crap .

combining is just a thing of patience , if its not wanting to play ball then go home , can be the quickest combining you will ever do ,

this year the crop has come through very well so fingers crossed it will soon be past flea beetle pressure , i had home saved seed so drilling was cheap and will hopefully be cheap to grow , has had its N unless i give it another sniff and so i will just have to make a pass with a herbicide

I think you are are buying new seed, then linseed isn't going to pay in any case. With farm saved seed, and following the combine with a buckrake and matches, then it's a good crop.

Most box drills here have 3 boxes - fert, seed, small seeds
The small seed box on this one has 2 settings chiselled in - swedes @0.9kg/ha and kale at 5kg/ha, the fert box is set for drilling 125kgs DAP and the main box had never been used!

Now set for my mix @73.11kg/ha.

Tine drills tend to rattle a bit like you said, but this machine is pretty solid due to 22 big cast press wheels, about 2400kg for a 3 metre machine (so you know it's there in a 3600kg tractor)
I'm really impressed with how well it handles residue, the Duncan I used to use would have struggled.... especially planting beans etc at 35mm deepView attachment 855122
3 months update; looking t'other way across this bit ^^

Patchy, but near enough for cattle feed in a month or two. @Cowcorn

Almost put fertiliser on it a month ago, but then it started looking like a crop, so I didn't

That’s it, all the game covers finally finished, seems to take forever! Only 17 acres but most is half acre stripes ??. Cleaned drill off and put away so can crack on with spraying and spreading now, hoping for rain again but non forecast☹️
