Yes, rye and vetch. Not a particularly impressive one admittedly. Are you drilling into a cover crop?
Bloody hell I forgot about YAMS will try some in the morning but will probably end up going.that we left overnight has been sown this morning and drillman reckons its that dry it could well need rolling ,ffs . Just moved into the next lump then if field finished tonight off to yams at york tommorrow so as not tempted to force a couple of headlands .Plus leaving the last lump destined for winter wheat some wetter ground for another day or two , that is until the plans change again. Having just seen wombat,s thumb in an above pic it would seem hes having a nailbiting time of it as well, ho ho
Beans 100% drilled now
Planning to be back on wheat tomorrow
Is anyone worried about drilling now and then the seed sitting in a swamp again if we get the 30mm forecast for Sunday?
The last stuff we drilled did the same, and we have the makings of a crop. Not a ten tonne one but a crop non the less.Is anyone worried about drilling now and then the seed sitting in a swamp again if we get the 30mm forecast for Sunday?

I'm more scared of the crop not vernalizing but time will tell.
Spring drilling is currently much cleaner than the autumn campaign was View attachment 856676
Planet at 400 seeds. It’s going in really well, much better than anything I planted in the autumn. Although the cover has died back a lot there’s a mass of roots which is lovely to drill into.Spring barley? What seed rate & variety?
Hard to see the detail from an iPhone but the slot closure looks pretty good from here.
We're right down on the southeast coast, about 20 minutes south of Balclutha, about 3 hrs from Wanaka (if you could get here!)Where are you @Kiwi Pete ? We had a very wet day at Wanaka yesterday and trouble getting here from Fox Glacier due to the road being washed out. Lovely here today though,
