I'll be starting to drill Spring barley on the lowland today, just relieved I got my barley seed cleaned last week.
Yes I do work on my own.

Been out yesterday with the rapid just to see if my plan will work, unfortunaly ground is to hard on top and it just ran along the top, scratching just a very shallow seedbed, tried ciltipress, which in itself wasn't to successful but better than the tpp tilth which was horrible, trying power harrow today

Got a load done and rolled, sprayed off worked stubbles on heavy ground, nice bit of tilth on top but feel it needs a tickle up as sheep have compacted it down a bit, going to try a new to me Proforge Inverta, then bosh over it with either combi or Vaddy. Ground round here still hellish wet in places.

Still very wet here. Parts of fields would drill, but it would mean leaving big chunks undrilled. What to do for the best is the big question . 7 yrs ago we had a foot of snow

What we have found is everything needs lifting to get some air into it to dry it, so the 2 old flexitines have come out of hiding.

A lot of power harrows going now. Quite a few ripping up October, January and February drilled wheat and failed osr. Not started here. Maybe end of next week.
40 acre of ripped up ww resown in sb a crop ive avoided for years will be rolled this morning , fertilizer worked In .It is has amazed me how it has gone from a swamp to a seedbed ,dust flying ,below what we have worked is not as sad as thought it might be and the worms are making a comeback
This spring cropping will be a forced experiment into the virtues of overwintering you never know I might become a convert
Will decide later if we move to some fresh ploughed over wintered stubble or take the opportunity to replace a fairly large headland first,.The field we had left for fallow will now get drilled over the weekend if the weather is with us and then decide wether to take the gamble of sp osr
