Hi, I'm soon going to be drilling a large amount of holes in some concrete panels for water bowls etc, was wondering is there any way to stop the drill blowing a fair lump out of the other side of the panel whilst drilling through. TIA

Pilot drill with a 6 mm first then increase the bit size to suit and open the hole up from both sides ,,could get somebody to hold a block of wood on the other side first to stop the bit from just punching out

Not sure what kind of panels you have but try and find out if they are reinforced. If they are then try to avoid hitting the reinforcing bar as this can cause at least two effects.

First is that you can weaken the panel if you damage or cut through the bar. Second is that unless you use a drill bit designed for drilling through rebar (which you want to avoid anyway) then each time you hit the bar you can wreak a drill bit and this causes wallet damage.

Lincs Lass's post is worth looking at just make sure the person helping you is well clear.

even pilot drilling makes a fare blow out sometimes just depends if you hit a pebble on the surface

the next lot I do I plan to resin threaded bar in so I can tighten the nut onto it after its set?

like drill 70mm into your panel then put in a bit of resin and shove the threaded bar in then an hour later you could probably hang the bowl or whatever from it?

^ This.
And don't rush drilling the pilot hole. It's not a race.
