Drilling on sf1

Hello just wondering if there are people out there drilling on sf1 satisfactorily?

We need another 2630 screen and 3000 receiver but all our others are rtk.

Any second hand units about?

You say "most seem to find it acceptable", doesn't it say "some do not find it acceptable for drilling"? How can you be sure the OP is one of those that would find SF1 acceptable?

I would claim a minority accepting SF1, EGNOSS or similar acceptable for drilling (and hardly anyone who has tried RTK) but it certainly is a matter of opinion. What sort of results would one accept and how much manual control (clearing offsets) would one accept etc.

OP, can't you try SF1 on one of your RTK capable receivers?

Obviously you are a pedant, so SF1 is not suitable for you :p
Me, I think it’s bloody fantastic (y) but then I’m only a Cornish simpleton :D

Yes, but only on a pass to pass basis. Expect to have to nudge it when you’ve stopped to fill up. Just put your marker arm out on the last pass. Certainly no problem for osr without tramlines where the canopy will fill in any gaps.

I use SF2 for drilling at 5.98m on a 6m drill with cereals and it’s better. RTK is best but it sounds like you can’t easily swap.

We use sf1 and get on with it fine, but you do need to be prepared to nudge it at times. When we were drilling with a crawler we worked in lands ok but you did need to set out on a new land straight after a pass along the work you've already done.
It's not perfect but then neither is my steering!

Yeah all sounds fine then really. Thanks for the replies. The sprayer puts the tramlines in on rtk, and the drill is 8m in a 36m system so a bit of wandering here and there won’t be an issue for us.

On another note does anyone find that jd mobile rtk wanders occasionally?
The crawler went off cultivating in a big field working in lands. Struck out down the middle and worked off to the east. When he came back to work the west side off there was a miss next the first run he did. About a foot.
In the past when drilling every other run then coming back to fill in, its been out, have to recenter the ab.

Not familiar with JD but the above is not possible with RTK. Either the receiver is losing RTK fix or the receiver is broken.

I'd expect that on sf1 with a bit of drift but rtk should be spot on

Sf1 with an 8m drill I'd say would be good enough I'm drilling with a 3m 24m tramlines and can get them around 23m ish with no missed bits except across really steep stuff
