So, the hitch on my 3050 needs a refurb... but before I get properly stuck into this job, thoughts turned to fitting one of the newer type push out hitches (sort of things you find on a 6630 etc). Am I totally bonkers for even considering this.... has it been done in the past by anyone.....

Are you needing it for getting the hook lower to the ground?
You’re practically in the trailer when you open the back window, seeing isn’t really a problem!

No, it's purely that I view these hitches as "better" than the old axla type ones and weighing up the time it'd take me to refurb the old one versus fitting (or making fit!) one of the newer ones.

Would the hook be alot farther back than the axla no matter how you fit it and you are then stuck with a crap drawbar if you use one . I have drilled out the main pin bosses from 1 1/8 to 30mm if it was not too far gone and welded a new piece of heavy wall 30id pipe on the lower section . I know you still have hook pin holes plus locking hooks and the rest . No quick fix either .
