Drop artic trailer height

Hi lads,

going to make a tipping trailer from a artic chassis. I want to drop the height of the chassis to make the complete trailer lower.
The chassis is on bpw axles ,

options are cut the air suspension of and weld it a spring setup, prob cost near 800 euro

or leave in the air set up on it. Just wondering is it possible to drop the height , by moving the spring from over slung to under slung on the trailer?

Yea axle could go on top of spring quite easily but depending how much of a crank is on springs it could make the airbag quite close to ground.? Bigger floatation tyres would probably sort that out though, air suspension is very good and worth keeping imo

thanks , see what you mean about the airbag. I must look at the trailer some evening and see how low it will be

Should have a ride height valve on it just shorten it a bit, it’ll have a small chain or rod that is fitted to a valve that is fixed the the chassis and the chain/rod is connected to the axle

We’re looking at Doing something similar on a trailer. Can you get shorter hangers to do it that way? Probably existing axle and air suspension system on new box section chassis.

This trailer comes with 24v lights and abs. What’s the easiest way to adapt to 12v for tractors? Pretty sure someone said it was possible.

If you are putting the axles on a new chassis would it not be easier to just wire it up from scratch.
You can just change the 24v bulbs for 12v bulbs and replace the socket with a 7 pin, but i'm sure i have read @Andrew say in another post that you cannot convert a 24v abs system on 12v

That is what I was told at the time by Erentek, yes
